
Farm Coordinator
Organizational Description
Dig Deep Farms, a social enterprise of Black Ag Tech, is an urban regenerative farm operating 53 acres in Alameda County cultivating specialty crops that directly focus on serving to benefit and improve the well-being of individuals and the larger community through access to fresh, locally grown foods, jobs, and skill building. In addition to regenerative agriculture, Dig Deep Farms jointly implements Permaculture whole systems designs and applications.
Job Summary
The Farm Coordinator will assist in the coordination and administration of Dig Deep Farms' day-to-day programming agendas (e.g., volunteers, crop production, internships, regenerative farming courses and training). The Farm Coordinator will aid in keeping a database of volunteer information, bios and matching volunteers to farm-related opportunities that match their skills and/or interests. The Farm Coordinator will assist the Farm Manager in coordination and/or facilitation of each aspect of crop production (i.e. field prep/maintenance, planting, harvesting, post-harvest and all necessary documentation for the purpose of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Organic certification.

Key Responsibilities
To do daily:
- Coordinates and/or facilitates crop production agendas
- Coordinates and/or facilitates volunteer program agendas
- Assist farmers where needed in the areas of crop production
- Assist Farm Manager with farm schedules and ensuring that any needed daily documentation is efficiently performed
To do weekly:
- Create strategies for recruiting new volunteers and keeping existing volunteers engaged with farming program
- Collecting volunteer information, availability, and skills, and maintaining an up-to-date database
- Keeping new and existing volunteers informed about the organization and volunteer opportunities
- Send confirmation and reminders to volunteers, interns and other farm visitors
- Check in with Farm Manager and designated Farm Staff to assess needs for volunteer participation, crop production and regenerative farming training and/or courses
- Assist with maintaining accurate records, data and provide timely statistical and activity reports related the overall Dig Deep Farms program
To do monthly:
- Provide pics/videos of farm projects, farmers, volunteers and organize in designated google drive folders in coordination with the Farm Administrator and Farm Manager
- Assist Farm Manager with creating maintenance, planting and other crop production planning
- Create and distribute various communications and publications related to the promotion and awareness of Dig Deep Farms programs and opportunities for participation
To do quarterly:
- Evaluate all aspects of DDF’s farm program with Farm Directors and Managers to ensure effectiveness and to recommend/implement changes as appropriate where innovation is needed and/or possible
- Track and update tool and equipment inventory
Qualifications for this position include:
- Ability to use critical thinking and technology to problem solve independently, ask questions where needed, and don't get daunted by roadblocks, but continue to follow up and ask questions until each task is done.
- Ability to use a calendar effectively - to set up regular tasks on a calendar, and do them without having to be reminded

- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs
- Spanish/English bilingual speaking is highly desirable
Organizational Role and Supervisor
The Farm Coordinator will report to the Farm Administrator and Farm Manager
Location
The DDF Farm Site in Fremont (34600 Ardenwood Blvd., Fremont, CA), and occasionally at other designated farm site locations in the area as needed.
Type of Employment
The position is a full-time hourly position at $27.30/hour.
